Beyond the ruins

Just a 5-minute walk away, the story that gives meaning to this place: the encounter between the Greek culture of the 6th century BC and the arrival of the Romans.

Continue the walk to Sant Martí d’Empúries, a medieval fortified nucleus with a castle from the 13th century and a Gothic church from the 16th century. Its stone streets hide restaurants where you can eat surrounded by history.

20 minutes by car, Ullastret: one of the most important Iberian villages in Catalonia, with its own museum. Stone houses, narrow streets and a historic wall. Take the opportunity to try the recuits and artisan cheeses from Recuits Nuri, a local product since 1972.

Medieval stone core, cobbled streets and a moat dug into the rock of the castle, about 30 minutes by car. Ideal for strolling in the evening and staying for dinner.

Medieval castle on a promontory, overlooking the rice fields of the Baix Empordà, about 25 minutes by car. Add it to a route through the inland villages, along with Monells and Peratallada.

35 minutes by car. Follow the Camí de Ronda to the coves of Aiguablava and Sa Riera: turquoise waters, natural pools and pines right on the beach.

Following the promenade to the left, two beaches follow: Les Muscleres and Moll Grec, with the Greek pier of Empúries still visible in the water. Calm and shallow waters, ideal for children.

A flat and easy coastal path, about 2.5 km between Escala and Sant Martí d’Empúries. It passes by the Mirador de les Coves, the Roca Portitxol and the ruins of Empúries.

Three stops to understand Dalí: the Castillo de Púbol, the Casa-Museo de Portlligat and the Teatro-Museo de Figueres. Approx. 30-40 minutes by car depending on the point.
