Choose the route that best suits your family.

Sant Martí d’Empúries · Difficulty: very easy

It is the shortest and best route to start with, also for small children and with a stroller. Follow the promenade and the path along the sea, among pines and dunes, until you reach the old town, which is high up, with its square, its stone streets and its terraces. It is just over a kilometer from the hotel, so it takes place in a quiet time. It passes by the ruins of Empúries and has shade for most of the way. It is ideal for walking and returning with an ice cream.

Centre of l’Escala · Difficulty: easy

It’s a bit longer, but without any complications. You walk along the promenade to the center of l’Escala, with its fishing port, shops and restaurants. The path is mostly flat, and children can ride a bike or walk without any problems. Inside the town center, it’s a good idea to pay attention to the signs, because in some streets cycling is not allowed. It’s a good option to spend the morning and have lunch in the port.

Cala Montgó · Difficulty: moderate

Here you can already see that you’re going for a walk. The route follows the coast with very beautiful views, between cliffs, pines and the sea, until you reach one of the most beautiful coves on the Costa Brava. The circular path has some sections with slopes and descents and some more technical steps, so it’s better for children who already walk with ease. For cycling, the most comfortable option is to do it on the road. Bring water, a hat and a swimsuit, because the cove invites you to stay.

Montgrí Natural Park · Difficulty: moderate-high

It is the route for the most adventurous families. It takes you through forests and trails, with more elevation and more distance than the previous ones, and with expansive views of the entire coast. It is better for older children or those with experience hiking, and for those who enjoy nature without haste. Leave early, wear good shoes, and bring plenty of water.
