Visit the ruins of Empúries

More than two thousand years of history at your fingertips

Empúries is the only site on the Iberian Peninsula where a Greek city and a Roman city coexist. On the same bank, the Greek Neapolis, with its agora and the sanctuary of Asclepius, god of medicine, and the Roman city, with its forum, its houses with mosaics and its amphitheater. Here, Roman troops landed in 218 BC, and these streets and walls have been looking out over the Mediterranean for more than two thousand years.

Visiting the museum and the site
The Museum of Archaeology of Catalonia-Empúries brings together the pieces found during more than a hundred years of excavations, including the sculpture of Asclepios. As you leave the ruins, you can walk around the Greek and Roman city.
